Questions & Answers

What is hosting and why do I need it?

A hosting provider stores all the files that make up your website and makes it accessible worldwide. In addition to other internet-related services, a hosting provider also enables you to send and receive emails using your domain name.

Yes! If you need assistance with registering a new domain, transferring a domain, or managing an existing domain, I can help.

In its simplest form, the Domain Name System (DNS) translates domain names into IP addresses. When someone enters a website address into a browser, DNS determines which server on the internet to connect to in order to access the website.

The same applies to email—when someone sends you an email, DNS identifies the server responsible for handling your incoming messages.

Absolutely! If you have a registered domain, it can either be transferred or its DNS settings can be updated to point to the hosting provider I use. From there, it can be configured to accept email, allowing you to access your email on any of your devices.

Shared hosting is a popular choice for websites that don’t require a large amount of resources to run. A single web server hosts multiple websites, all sharing the same memory and processing power.

A VPS (Virtual Private Server), on the other hand, works differently. You have access to your own server, allowing you to install your own programs and configure it however you like. What makes it ‘virtual’ is that multiple VPS instances are hosted on the same physical server.

For example, your VPS could be hosted on a physical server with 128GB of RAM. If your VPS has 8GB of RAM, you have exclusive access to all 8GB, ensuring it is not shared with anyone else. In theory, a single physical server with 128GB of RAM could host sixteen individual VPS instances.
